For
Adults |
Most adults come
into our program looking for more than a strictly physical workout.
While fitness and self-defense are important aspects of Traditional
karate, there are also elements of training that lead a heightened
sense of self-knowledge. Wiser management of personal energy,
improved mental clarity, and the ability to cultivate a sense of
purpose in the ordinary details of daily life grow with long-term
practice.

Karate is an art whose history traces back over hundreds
of years and a colorful diversity of cultures and social
conditions. The experience of human beings over a vast
span of generations can give insight into the conditions of
our own time. The
idea that the art is traditional implies that we apply the
distilled knowledge of those who have gone before as an aid
in addressing today’s challenges. A classical approach
to instruction reduces questions of health and meaning to
their most basic components. It is this process that
enables us to strengthen our physical, energetic and
psychological core. |

For Children
Our program is
designed to assist parents in the long-range development of their
child. Our aim is to give children confidence in their ability
and potential. Core fitness, mental endurance, and emotional
resiliency are fundamental by-products of the training. Our
instructional approach combines consideration with firmness, humor
with seriousness, and fun with the ability to perform work. We
stress that courtesy, respect, and responsibility are essential
ingredients to successful human relations. Our goal for
children is to see them succeed in any endeavor they choose to
pursue.
The Karate Mindset
Instructors at
Pacific Martial Arts understand that technical competence is but one
factor in the equation of self-protection. Life within our society
and culture present many challenges--the greatest of which is not to
be influenced to our disadvantage. To ward off the negative and
strengthen the positive requires that we have a strong core, that we
know who we are, and are capable of moving with certainty.
Emotional control and mental alertness are as crucial to
self-defense as physical ability. Our instruction builds defensive
skills along with confidence and awareness.
